All IT service companies conduct
aptitude test to shortlist candidates. You can read my post on that here. So,
it is imperative for an aspirant to crack the aptitude test. Even if someone is
very good in his subject or in programming or in communication, he will not
make the cut if he is not able to crack the apti. He will fail in the first leg
itself. Hence, you need to seriously prepare for the aptitude test.
The aptitude test is typically a
1 to 1.5 hour test with multiple choice answers. Usually, there are 3 sections
– known as verbal, quants and reasoning. In verbal, your knowledge of English
language is tested. In quants, your quantitative ability is tested. In
reasoning, your logical and deductive faculties are tested.
There are 3 and only 3 things to
be done to crack the aptitude test. It is Practice, Practice and Practice. You
can pick up a book like RS Aggarwal, (http://www.flipkart.com/author/r-s-aggarwal)
and do it end to end. There are lots of reference material on internet and
various sites that can help you as well.
Now, here is a step-by-step plan on
how to crack the aptitude test in 3 months:
- Study for 1 hour everyday on a subject – English, Maths or Reasoning.
- Post the study, practice a 50 questions question paper on that section.
- Time yourself.
- Review the answers once you have finished answering. Find out which one you did wrong and why.
- Maintain a log of your daily score.
- Study and Practice English on Monday, mathematics on the Tuesday and reasoning on Wednesday. Similarly, repeat the respective sections on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
- On Sunday, take a full-fledged practice test for all 3 sections. Time yourself. Review your answers. Maintain the Daily log.
- By doing so for 3 months, you will reach the peak of your performance and can crack any aptitude test.
What are the other methods do you apply to crack the aptitude test? Do
